Houston Nurse Jobs Benefit from HIT Funding

Those with Houston nurse jobs and other healthcare occupations will benefit from a new round of funding that has spurred a collaborative effort.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston recently announced that it will receive $15.3 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center.

The Gulf Coast REC will serve as a place where healthcare practitioners can reach out for help with technical assistance, guidance and information on best practices. RECs are typically designed to address unique community requirements, as well as support and accelerate efforts by healthcare providers to become meaningful users of electronic health records.
