San Antonio Tech Jobs Created by VMC
A successful consulting and outsourcing company is planning to create hundreds of San Antonio tech jobs.
VMC Technologies, Inc. recently announced its plans to open a technical support and customer service center in San Antonio, a move that will result in about 600 new jobs. The Washington-based company provides technology consulting and outsourcing services to other businesses.
Officials with VMC said the company plans to hire all of the staff for its new center locally and expects to bring on about 100 people each month until all the positions are filled. The company is looking to hire support personnel, quality assurance agents, and supervisors.
"About a year ago, we started studying different markets," VMC CEO Kristin Carrico told the San Antonio Express-News. "We whittled the list down from about 100 locations and when we looked at the demographics, the talent pool and the availability of IT professionals, San Antonio was our choice."
VMC's new center will be located at Brooks City-Base, which will see about 700,000 square feet of available space next September, as the Air Force relocates. VMC's office will measure about 35,0000 square feet and will feature an expanded cafeteria.
"This is a real shot of adrenaline to the economic development effort of the South Side," Don Jakeway, president and CEO of Brooks City-Base, said. "This is a real momentum builder for us and the community."
VMC has operations throughout Canada, Europe and Asia. The new location will serve as the company's first office in Texas.
