San Antonio IT Jobs Created by ACS
One company is helping to create hundreds of San Antonio IT jobs.
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. recently announced its plans to expand the company's operations in San Antonio and hire 400 employees by June 2011. The company is looking to hire agents, administrative staff, trainers, and managers. The new positions will pay a median salary of about $35,000 per year and hourly wages will begin at about $9.
ACS was acquired by Xerox Company for $6.5 billion in cash and stock this February. The new hires come after the call center operator added 300 jobs last year at Port San Antonio, where ACS already employed more than 500 workers, according to an article by the San Antonio Express-News.
ACS plans to hire 150 people by the end of the year and will hire the remainder of the new employees when it moves into additional office space by the end of February 2011. Some candidates may have to undergo Texas criminal background checks. The company needs more employees to handle inbound and outbound calls for an unnamed retailer.
"We have a new client," Antonio Malone, business-unit manager for ACS, said. "I can only tell you it's one of the nation's largest retailers. Our clients like for their customers to know when they're calling that they're getting the experience that they provide and not necessarily (from) a third party."
Although ACS received a $300,000 grant from the City of San Antonio last year for hiring 300 workers and retaining 538 jobs, the company did not seek any incentives for this new round of hires.
